Privacy Policy

Your data stays
on your phone.

Bold Choice has no backend, no account, and no idea who you are. This page explains exactly what that means.

Last updated: June 2025

Bold Choice does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Everything the app knows about your usage lives on your device and nowhere else.

No data is ever sent to any server. There is no server.

What Bold Choice accesses

Bold Choice uses Apple's DeviceActivity framework — part of Screen Time — to read usage data for the apps and categories you explicitly select. This data is read on-device only.

The app accesses:

What Bold Choice does not do

To be direct about it:

Apple's Screen Time framework

Usage data is accessed through Apple's DeviceActivity framework. This framework is designed by Apple to keep screen time data private by default. Apps using it cannot read raw usage data — they can only set monitors and receive callbacks when thresholds are crossed.

Bold Choice stores a summary of your usage (roast count, daily totals, last roast time) in a local App Group container shared between the app and its notification extension. This data never leaves your device.

Notifications

Bold Choice delivers notifications locally — they are scheduled on your device and triggered by the Screen Time framework. There are no push notifications. There is no notification server. No device token is registered anywhere.

Children's privacy

Bold Choice does not collect any data from any user, including users under 13. There is nothing to collect.

Changes to this policy

If Bold Choice ever changes in a way that affects privacy, this page will be updated. The app will never collect personal data without explicit, meaningful consent.
